aur mohe tu rang de basanti yaara, mohe tu rang de basanti...

thodi si dhuul meri, dharti ki mere watan ki
thodisi Khushbuu baurai se mast pavan ki
thodisi dhondhane waali dhak-dhak dhak-dhak dhak-dhak saansein
jin mein ho junoon junoon voh boonde laal lahuu ki
yeh sab tuu mila mila le, phir rang tuu khila khila le
aur mohe tuu rang de basanti, yaara
mohe tuu rang de basanti

do you feel the rush, of adrenaline? i sure do. what a movie. a class act. one of the best hindi flicks i've seen in recent times. rang de.. lives up to every ounce of its pre-release hype, although, i must admit i was apprehensive about the movie's success, after the debacle of mangal pandey. the background score is excellent and so are ALL the songs. the best is roobaroo, and its timing is awesum. listen to its lyrics, and you'll know why.

if the first half reminds you of the fun and masti of dch(dil chahta hai), the second half is the patriotism minus jingoism of sarfarosh. a group of 5, DJ, karan, aslam, sukhi and soniya are the typical fun loving DUites. the kind of masti they have is what everyone dreams of. then enters sue, a british, who wants to make a movie on the life of the indian revolutionaries. the intersection of the two movies is amazing. DJ is the typical modern punjabi. his behen di taki dialogues are sure to haunt you. sukhi is the neo-haryanavi. aslam a central delhite, muslim. modern in HIS outlook, but not his family's. and my favourite(of course after DJ), karan-the rich kid. he is the surprise package of the film. soniya is the sweet girl in the gang. and the gori-sue is oh-so beautiful! the guys just wanna have fun. like all of us.

is desh ka kuch nahi ho sakta

is what they think. like all of us.

and then there is the pilot, ajay rathore, whose death in a mig-21 crash is the essence of the movie. the incident is enough to change their mindset. and they decide to bring about a change. a much needed change.

is desh me 2 hi tarike hain jeene ke. ek, jo ho raha hai, use sahan karte raho. kuch mat kaho. dusra, khade ho. badlo, apne aap ko, aas-paas ko.

is what they think now. and they decide to opt for the second one. like all of us? i doubt(me included).

when are we going to stand up guys. when? are we going to, ever? or is it just when a movie like this comes up once in a while, we'll resolve to do something for the country, and forget it the very next moment.

no country is perfect, YOU have to make it perfect.

lets try and make our country perfect. the least we can do is (no cliche, this) stop corruption. and from the movie's point of view, vote wisely, and do VOTE. its our country guys, our government. we have to decide who rules it.

hey, and all those of you, who haven't still seen the movie(can't believe that!!!), do yourself a favour and watch it today.

@chinmay: thanx chinmay

@atul: man, you might not be, but i'm seriously inspired by the movie. i had to write about it!

as for my 'gyan' is concerned, i never say you die for your country, no! no death can ever bring about a change. the "least" i think we can do is a)vote , b)curb corruption... is it that difficult, honey!!! don't think so. i can sure do these small things for my country..:)
